As five star hotel, it was very poor quality hotel. There was a hugely damaged chipped decor in the bath room, it was so very noticeable why don't they mend it? The room and single beds were so very small, much smaller than normal single beds. When we arrived, there was no staff to be seen for such a long time. We had to wait for a long time, other people were also waiting for any staff to be seen. We traveled from Japan, so we had huge suitscases. Be warned! There is a long stone stairs to get to the reception. Well eventually staff came to help us as one of their guests at the restaurant kindly helped looking for staff for us. I also needed a spare key as I and my friend had to visit different places at different time, so we were hoping we could have a key each, but they had only one key which was most inconvenient for us, if I knew they would give us only one key, we would have stayed at another hotel. This could be a very small thing to them but the information about spare key could be also posted on their website clearly. I have never experienced staying at the hotel which you constantly need to look for any staff at the reception everytime when you need staff to talk to. At reception there is no staff at most of the time. They probably need to hire more staff to cover their reception area at all the time. It was not as I expected at all, so it was a huge disappointment.

On arrival to our room, (No. 14) we discovered the bed linen had not been changed from the last guest, just remade with the rumpled/soiled bedding still in place. With Covid 19 safety measures in place throughout the rest of the hotel, we think the changing of the bed linen should have been a priority. In the bathroom, the shower door was missing the seal along the bottom, resulting in water flooding the floor whilst having our showers. The bath itself was very slippy and no bath mat was provided. The TV in our room had only six obscure channels which did not include BBC, ITV, or any news channels. The room clearly had not been hoovered too. We were provided with free drinks during the afternoon to go some way to compensate for the bed fiasco. However, we were disappointed to discover that we were charged for these drinks as we were checking out the following morning. We did dispute the bill and the drinks were removed. However, as we were celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary, and had paid £275 for the night, we expected a better experience from a FIVE star hotel!! We felt the stay fell far short of our expectations.
